If Tinubu had case to answer, out-of-court settlement would have been impossible

The current puerile attempt by the opposition to create the false impression that All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was ever involved in drug running in America should not normally warrant any response but for the fact that ours is notoriously a clime of chronic amnesia where what should ordinarily be permanently ingrained in the memories of all and sundry often needs to be reiterated and then reinforced again and again.

It is truly astonishing that anyone claiming to possess the competence for public affairs commentary would attempt to rely on a matter disposed of by the legal device of an out of court settlement to vilify the very beneficiary of such resolution and seek to cast aspersions on their integrity.

For those who might not be familiar with how the criminal law works in America and all other Common Law jurisdictions, if not in absolutely all jurisdictions worldwide, for that matter, there can never be any room for out of court settlement if someone is actually implicated in criminal activities.

Out of court settlement is completely different from plea bargaining which involves admission of guilt and invariably culminates in conviction of the person involved.

For Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to have had the boldness to actually sue the US Government over his frozen account is a testament to his confidence in his complete innocence of any involvement in the commission of any offence.

For Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to have had the boldness to actually sue the US Government over his frozen account is a testament to his confidence in his complete innocence of any involvement in the commission of any offence.

Indeed, the investigation by the FBI, itself, must have come to a final conclusion that Tinubu was indeed absolutely blameless as to the source of the forfeited amount that was part of the out of court settlement.

This is the only thing that would have compelled the FBI to seek out of court settlement instead of being embarrassed in court for hastily freezing the account of an innocent man.

That’s just how the law works.

Indeed, that the matter involving the freezing of Tinubu’s account, back in the 90s, was disposed of by way of out of court settlement coupled with the fact that the United States’ Government, itself, then later issued a clear and unambiguous clarification on the matter, through which it gave Tinubu a clean bill of health and absolved him of any malfeasance or criminal record conclusively and permanently settles the matter.

Anyone still insistent on fixating on it and thereupon peddling falsehood must either be most unconscionably mischievous or downright sawdust-headed.

Adamu: Tinubu will be next President, urges him to get ready

Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has told Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to get ready to assume the presidency of Nigeria, from 29 May 2023.

Adamu, who spoke emphatically at the Town Hall meeting Thursday in Lafia between the APC candidate and stakeholders in the mining sector, said he was merely echoing President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement.

Except God, President Buhari is the highest authority in Nigeria today. Buhari has said it and it shall come to pass, Adamu stated.

Urging Tinubu to stand and the audience to also join him, Adamu declared Asíwájú will be the next president.

He urged voters not only in Nasarawa, but also in the adjoining states to vote massively for the party and its candidate.

He urged Tinubu to get ready for the task to shoulder the demands of leading Nigeria.

His statement drew wild applause for minutes in the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Lafia. Jagaban get ready to lead this country, Nigeria to the promised land.

“We know the task ahead is enormous because of the complexity of the country, but we are confident that your shoulders are broad enough to withstand the weight.

“Come 2023, there would be a transition from one APC administration to another; you would consolidate on the legacies already put in place by President Buhari,” he said.

The hall which had Governors Simon Lalong. Babagana Zulum and Aminu Masari , speaker of the House of Representatives in attendance, was rent with the shouts of Jagaban of Nigeria.

Adamu later prayed for God’s victory for the party so that APC will hand over to APC next year May.

Host governor Sule similarly envisioned an Asíwájú victory and called him several times in his speech as ‘Nigeria’s next President’.

Sule gave a comprehensive overview of the mineral deposits in the state, including marble, lithium, barite and others.

Tinubu in his response promised that help is on the way to industrialize the state for prosperity.

Senator Tanko Al-Makura, a former governor of the state, who also welcomed Tinubu, later presented a crafted gift to Asíwájú in appreciation of being a media friendly politician.

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of many traditional honours across the country, from north to south, west to east. The array of titles he has garnered was only comparable to that of Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the 1993 Presidential election.
