Tambuwal loses out in senate minority leadership race

Senator Aminu Tambuwal (PDP Sokoto) has lost out in the race for the minority leadership of the 10th Senate.

Though favoured by the PDP leadership, Tambuwal, a former speaker of the House of Representatives and former governor of Sokoto, lost out to Senator Simon Mwadkwon, PDP-Plateau.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced Mwadkwon’s choice as Senate Minority Leader.

Akpabio made the announcement after a closed-door session which lasted about 10 minutes.

He also announced Sen. Oyewumi Olalere (PDP-Osun) as Deputy Minority Leader; Sen. Darlington Nwokocha (LP-Abia), Minority Whip, and Sen. Rufai Hanga (NNPP-Kano), as Deputy Minority Whip. (NAN)
